Terms of Service
Last updated: January 31, 2026
Welcome to memenu! These terms explain how you can use our recipe platform. By creating an account or using memenu, you agree to these terms.
What is memenu?
memenu is a recipe platform where you can save, organize, and share recipes. You can:
- •Create and share your own recipes
- •Save recipes from other websites
- •Plan meals and create shopping lists
- •Collaborate with groups (family, friends, meal prep buddies)
- •Use our web app, mobile apps, and browser extension
The basics
- 1.You need to be at least 16 years old to use memenu
- 2.You're responsible for keeping your account secure
- 3.These terms are governed by Danish law
- 4.If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or in-app notification

1.Your Content — Original Recipes
When you create a recipe on memenu, you own it. But how we can use it depends on whether it's public or private.
Public recipes (free and premium users)
When you make a recipe public, you're sharing it with the memenu community. Other users might add it to their meal plans, save it as a favorite, or share it with their groups. Because of this:
- You grant memenu a perpetual, worldwide license to display, share, and distribute your public recipe
- You can remove your name from a public recipe at any time (it becomes an "anonymous community recipe")
- You cannot fully delete a public recipe once others are using it — this would break their meal plans
- memenu may feature public recipes in marketing, newsletters, or social media
Think of public recipes like contributing to a community cookbook — once shared, others rely on it.
Private recipes (premium users only)
Private recipes are yours alone. You can edit, delete, or share them with specific groups at any time. memenu will not use private recipes for marketing or any purpose beyond providing the service to you.
The fine print
- Don't post recipes you don't have the right to share
- You're responsible for the accuracy of your recipes (ingredients, allergens, instructions)
- memenu can remove content that violates these terms
2.Saved Recipes from Other Websites
How saved recipes work
When you save a recipe from another website using our browser extension or URL import, memenu works like a smart bookmark:
- We store a link to the original source
- We extract a preview (ingredients, instructions, image) for your convenience
- The original website remains the source of truth
- We display attribution and link back to the source
Your responsibilities
- You're saving recipes for your personal use and organization
- The original recipe belongs to whoever created it — we're just helping you organize it
- If a source website requests removal of their content, we'll remove the cached preview but preserve your link to the original. Your meal plans won't break, but you'll view the recipe on the original site.
What we don't do
- We don't claim ownership of recipes from other sites
- We don't verify that external recipes are accurate or safe
- We can't guarantee external links will always work (websites change)
Important: Saved recipes follow the same safety disclaimers as all content on memenu. Always verify ingredients and instructions, especially for allergens.
3.Safety & Disclaimers
Important information about recipes
memenu is a platform for organizing and sharing recipes. We don't create, test, or verify the recipes you find here.
Please understand
- Recipes are provided by users or imported from external websites
- We don't verify nutritional information, calorie counts, or serving sizes
- We don't verify allergen information — a recipe labeled "nut-free" may contain nuts
- We don't verify cooking temperatures or food safety practices
- We don't verify that recipes are suitable for any dietary requirement
Your responsibility
- Always verify ingredients if you have allergies or dietary restrictions
- Use proper food safety practices (cooking temperatures, storage, hygiene)
- Exercise your own judgment before preparing any recipe
- Consult a healthcare professional for medical dietary advice
- Supervise children in the kitchen
memenu is not
- A substitute for professional nutritional advice
- A medical resource for managing food allergies or conditions
- A guarantee that any recipe is safe, accurate, or suitable for you
If something seems wrong
Report recipes that appear dangerous, misleading, or incorrectly labeled using the report button. We review reports and take action on content that violates our guidelines.
4.Acceptable Use
To keep memenu useful and enjoyable for everyone, please don't:
Content rules
- Post recipes you don't have the right to share (plagiarism)
- Label recipes with false information (e.g., marking something "gluten-free" when it isn't)
- Post spam, advertisements, or promotional content
- Post illegal content or content that promotes harmful activities
Behavior rules
- Harass, bully, or abuse other users
- Impersonate others or create fake accounts
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or private recipes
Technical rules
- Scrape or bulk-download recipes for commercial purposes
- Use bots or automation to create content or interact with the platform
- Attempt to circumvent premium features or payment systems
- Interfere with the platform's operation or security
What happens if you break the rules
We may warn you, remove content, restrict your account, or terminate your account entirely — depending on the severity. We'll try to notify you when possible, but reserve the right to act immediately for serious violations.
See something wrong? Use the report button or email support@memenu.io. We review all reports.
5.Premium Subscriptions
memenu offers premium subscriptions that unlock additional features like private recipes, advanced meal planning, and ad-free browsing.
Subscription billing
- Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis
- Prices include Danish VAT (moms) where applicable
- Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel before the renewal date
- You can cancel anytime from your account settings
Right of withdrawal (fortrydelsesret)
Under Danish consumer law, you have the right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving any reason.
However, for digital services like memenu: When you subscribe, we ask for your consent to start the service immediately. By giving this consent, you acknowledge that:
- The service begins as soon as your payment is processed
- You lose your right of withdrawal once you start using the premium features during the 14-day period
- If you don't use any premium features during the 14-day period, you can still request a full refund
This is required by EU law for digital services. We want you to start enjoying premium features immediately, but this means you agree to give up the 14-day "no questions asked" cancellation.
How to exercise your withdrawal right
To withdraw within the 14-day period (if you haven't used premium features), you can:
- Email support@memenu.io with your account email and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw
- Use the cancellation form in your account settings
We'll process refunds within 14 days using the same payment method you used for the original purchase.
Cancellation (after 14 days)
You can cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel:
- You keep access to premium features until the end of your current billing period
- Your subscription will not renew
- No refund is given for the remaining period (you've already paid for it)
- Your private recipes remain accessible as long as you have premium — see our Privacy Policy for what happens when premium ends
6.Account Termination
If you want to leave
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you delete your account:
- Your private recipes are permanently deleted
- Your public recipes remain available to the community (as anonymous community recipes)
- Your personal data is handled according to our Privacy Policy
- Premium subscriptions are not refunded for partial periods (you keep access until the period ends)
If we need to terminate your account
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. When possible, we'll:
- Notify you of the issue
- Give you a chance to fix it (for minor violations)
- Explain why we're taking action
For serious violations (illegal content, harassment, security threats), we may act immediately without notice.
What happens to your content
- Private recipes: Deleted with your account
- Public recipes: Remain as anonymous community recipes (others depend on them)
After termination
You can still view public recipes without an account. You can create a new account in the future unless we've specifically banned you for serious violations.
7.Limitation of Liability
We work hard to keep memenu running smoothly, but things can go wrong. Here's how we handle liability:
memenu is provided "as is"
- We don't guarantee the platform will always be available or error-free
- We don't guarantee recipes will be accurate, safe, or suitable for you
- We don't guarantee external links will always work
Our liability is limited
To the maximum extent permitted by Danish law, memenu's total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
We're not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Lost profits, data, or opportunities
- Harm resulting from following any recipe on the platform
- Actions of other users
- Content from external websites
Your responsibility for your content
You're responsible for the content you post on memenu. If you knowingly post content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or violates these Terms, and this results in legal claims against memenu, you may be liable for damages to the extent permitted by Danish law.
This provision does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer under Danish and EU law, and does not apply to unintentional mistakes or content you reasonably believed was lawful.
8.Disputes & Governing Law
We hope you never have a dispute with memenu, but if you do:
Step 1: Talk to us first
Before taking legal action, please contact us at legal@memenu.io. We'll work with you to resolve the issue informally. Many problems can be solved with a conversation.
Timeframe: We ask that you give us 60 days to resolve the issue before pursuing legal action.
Step 2: If we can't resolve it
If informal resolution doesn't work, disputes will be handled in the courts of Denmark under Danish law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark. If you're an EU consumer, you also retain any mandatory protections provided by the laws of your country of residence.
